The Solodkin/Small Brain Circuits Laboratory is located on the first floor of Hewitt Hall in the medical sciences division of UCI as well as the second floor of the Biological Sciences III building at the University of California, Irvine. In general, our research focuses on brain structure and function to support motor and language processing in health and after brain injury. We focus these interests on basic research topics such as the role of the brain in speech perception and language comprehension, gesture, and hand motor control; and applied research topics including the rehabilitation of language disorders and hand motor function after stroke and the diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. We have strong ties to the Department of Neurology within the Biological Science Division, the Department of Psychology within the Social Science Division, and the Computation Institute at the University of Chicago, as well as to the Committees on Neurobiology and Computational Neuroscience. The Solodkin/Small Brain Circuits Laboratory is an associate of the Center for Cognitive and Social Neuroscience, the Center for Integrative Neuroscience and Neuroengineering, and the Institute for Mind and Biology.
